The Texas Rangers have traded relief pitcher Grant Anderson to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for left-handed pitcher Mason Molina. This move was announced on Thursday after Anderson was designated for assignment earlier in the week to accommodate new signing Joc Pederson on the 40-man roster.
Anderson, 27, had a challenging season with the Rangers, appearing in 49 games and posting a 6.35 ERA over 62 1/3 innings. Despite a promising major league debut where he struck out seven batters against the Detroit Tigers, his performance declined significantly, with opponents hitting .314 against his slider and .344 against his fastball.
Mason Molina, the 21-year-old southpaw acquired by the Rangers, was selected in the seventh round of the 2024 MLB Draft. He had a successful junior season with the Arkansas Razorbacks and previously played at Texas Tech. Known for his low-90s fastball and effective changeup, Molina started two games in the minors last season without allowing a run in five innings.
