The Washington Nationals have secured left-hander Shinnosuke Ogasawara on a two-year deal worth $3.5 million. In the first year, Ogasawara will earn $1.5 million, followed by $2 million in 2026. This agreement followed a release from the Chunichi Dragons, who had made him available to MLB teams since December 10. The Nationals will also pay a release fee of $700,000 to the Dragons. Last season, Ogasawara recorded a 5-11 record with a 3.12 ERA across 24 appearances, totaling 144 and one-third innings pitched, where he achieved 82 strikeouts against 22 walks. He previously played in both the Japanese major and minor leagues, accumulating a career record of 54-72 with a 3.67 ERA in 190 games.
