The Dallas Mavericks have signed young guard Jazian Gortman to a two-way contract after waiving AJ Lawson, Emmanuel Miller, and Jamarion Sharp. Gortman, a former five-star prospect, played professionally with Overtime Elite and joined the Milwaukee Bucks' Summer League team before being waived.
Despite his 6-foot-2 stature, he showcased strong defensive skills, averaging 2.5 steals in Overtime Elite and forcing turnovers in the NBA preseason. Offensively, Gortman excelled in shooting during the preseason, hitting 57.1% from three-point range. However, his ability to facilitate the offense remains a question mark, as he struggled with turnovers. His performance in the G League and NBA will determine his future role with the Mavericks.
