The Dallas Mavericks are trading Tim Hardaway Jr. and three second-round picks to the Detroit Pistons for Quentin Grimes, per Adrian Wojnarowski. Hardaway Jr. was with the team for six seasons after a trade from the Knicks. Grimes, formerly with the Knicks, is entering the last season of his rookie contract.
The move clears cap space for the Mavericks to potentially re-sign Derrick Jones Jr., a priority for GM Nico Harrison. Jones is the only unsigned player in the Mavericks' rotation for the next season.
