The Dallas Mavericks have agreed to trade Tim Hardaway Jr. to Detroit in order to free up cap space to make an offer to Derrick Jones Jr. Dallas sent three second-round picks in the deal. This trade allows Dallas to retain Jones Jr., who was a top priority according to team decision-maker Nico Harrison.
Detroit is taking on a bad contract in exchange for draft picks, including a likely higher second-round pick from the Raptors. The Pistons also get a veteran shooter in Hardaway to support Cade Cunningham.
