Former Los Angeles Lakers coach Darvin Ham is returning to Milwaukee as the lead assistant on Doc Rivers' coaching staff. He previously worked under Mike Budenholzer for nine years in Milwaukee. Ham also had discussions with the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns about coaching opportunities.
Rivers took over in Milwaukee after Adrian Griffin's dismissal. Ham's first year as a head coach with the Lakers ended in a conference finals appearance, but he was let go after a first-round playoff exit. The Lakers are now looking to hire UConn's Dan Hurley as their new head coach.
