The Detroit Red Wings have trimmed their roster to 28 players as they prepare for the opening night lineup. A total of ten players, including Nate Danielson and Marco Kasper, have been assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins, with Kasper being the most notable surprise cut.
Coach Derek Lalonde emphasized that the concept of an 'opening night roster' may not hold as much significance as it used to, suggesting that player movement will continue throughout the season.
Additionally, first-round pick Michael Brandsegg-Nygard will return to Skellefteå AIK in Sweden, following a planned loan agreement.
