Dylan Guenther, the star forward for the Utah Hockey Club, has been ruled out indefinitely due to a lower-body injury sustained during a game against the Florida Panthers. Guenther, who currently leads his team with 16 goals, was injured after a hit from Panthers’ forward Aleksander Barkov. Coach Andre Tourigny addressed concerns regarding the possibility of Guenther missing the rest of the season, indicating that while the injury is significant, it is not season-ending.
In his third season with the franchise, Guenther has recorded 34 points over 40 games and was on track to exceed his previous career highs of 35 points and 18 goals from the last season. With Guenther out, the Utah Hockey Club has recalled Josh Doan from the AHL’s Tucson affiliate. Doan, son of Arizona franchise icon Shane Doan, has shown promise with nine prior appearances this season, contributing one goal and one assist.
