Maxim Tsyplakov of the New York Islanders has been suspended for three games without pay following an illegal check to the head of Philadelphia Flyers forward Ryan Poehling. The incident occurred during a game on Thursday night, leading to Poehling leaving the ice with an upper-body injury.

The NHL reviewed the play but determined that the hit did not warrant a penalty at the time. As a result of his suspension, Tsyplakov will forfeit $14,843.76 in salary. The Islanders are set to face off against the San Jose Sharks, Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Flyers again in their next three games.
