Logan Couture's illustrious NHL career, spanning over 15 seasons with the San Jose Sharks, has sadly come to an end due to a debilitating injury. After battling osteitis pubis that left him unable to skate since January 2024, Couture has officially announced his retirement from playing, admitting his physical condition no longer permits him to compete at the highest level. This decision follows a frustrating period where he missed all but six games since the start of the 2023-24 season.

Couture reflected on the emotional toll of his injury, likening it to the disappointment of a playoff loss. Known for his clutch performances, particularly in the postseason, he finishes his career with 323 goals and 378 assists in 933 regular-season games and 48 goals in 116 playoff games. Despite his struggles, he expressed gratitude for his time in the league and the cherished memories he made, particularly leading the Sharks to their first Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2016. Though he will continue to receive salary over the next two seasons, Couture has chosen not to officially retire yet, as he hopes for an eventual physical recovery.
