Riley Sheahan has announced his retirement from the NHL after a notable 12-season career. The 32-year-old forward's last appearances were with the Buffalo Sabres during the 2022-23 season, where he played only two games.
Over his career, Sheahan accumulated 194 points across 637 regular-season games with several teams, including the Sabres and Detroit Red Wings. He is remembered for scoring the first preseason goal in Seattle Kraken history.
Looking ahead, Sheahan plans to transition into coaching with the Niagara North Stars, a youth hockey team in his hometown of St. Catharines.
