The New York Islanders have strengthened their defense by acquiring Scott Perunovich from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a conditional fifth-round pick in the upcoming 2026 draft. This move follows the signing of Tony DeAngelo, who debuted for the Islanders with a prorated $775,000 contract after clearing waivers. Currently, the Islanders are on a four-game winning streak, recovering from a rocky start where they dropped 27 of their first 44 games, now placing seventh in the Metropolitan Division.
Perunovich, 26, has been a fluctuating presence in the Blues' lineup during his second full NHL season, contributing six points over 24 games. In his overall career with St. Louis, he has amassed 33 points while averaging close to 15 minutes of ice time across 104 regular-season and playoff appearances. The Minnesota native is in the final year of a $1.15 million contract and is set to become a restricted free agent this summer.
