Auston Matthews, captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, missed the game against the New York Islanders due to an undisclosed injury. This follows a previous upper-body injury that caused him to miss nine games last month and required treatment in Germany.

Head coach Craig Berube indicated that it’s uncertain if this injury is new or related to his prior absence. A decision on Matthews' availability for the upcoming game against the Winnipeg Jets will be made on Sunday.
