The Washington Capitals have placed defenseman Ethan Bear and centers Michael Sgarbossa and Luke Philp on waivers. If they clear, they will join the AHL's Hershey Bears.

Bear, who had a challenging season after shoulder surgery, recorded four points in 24 games. Sgarbossa contributed seven points in 25 NHL games and excelled in the AHL. Philp, recovering from injury, managed six points in 15 games. The Capitals are set to play their final preseason game against the Boston Bruins before the regular season begins.
