Tommy Kahnle has signed a one-year, $7.75 million deal with the Detroit Tigers, ending his second stint with the New York Yankees. This move comes after a successful season where Kahnle posted a 2.11 ERA with 46 strikeouts across 42.2 innings. Known for his powerful fastball, he has shifted to predominantly using his changeup in recent years, employing it over 73% of the time last season.

His playoff performance included a 2.08 ERA over 8.2 innings, but he faced challenges in the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, contributing to pivotal moments that led to the Yankees' loss.

Kahnle now joins a Tigers bullpen that ranked third in the league with a 2.41 ERA in September, which helped them secure a Wild-Card spot. He is the second Yankee to move to Detroit this offseason, following Gleyber Torres’ signing. Meanwhile, the Yankees have made several additions to their bullpen, including All-Star closer Devin Williams.
