The Chicago Bears have made a significant move in their search for a new head coach by interviewing Ron Rivera, the former coach of the Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders. Rivera, who has a coaching record of 102-103-2 over 13 seasons, is recognized for his bold decision-making style, earning him the nickname 'Riverboat Ron.'
With a notable history in Chicago, Rivera played as a linebacker for the Bears and was part of their legendary 1985 Super Bowl-winning team. He later served as the defensive coordinator under Lovie Smith, contributing to another Super Bowl appearance for the franchise.
This season, the Bears struggled, finishing last in the NFC North with a 5-12 record. They are seeking to replace Matt Eberflus, who was dismissed in late November. In addition to interviewing Rivera, the Bears have also explored other coaching candidates, including Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn from the Detroit Lions, along with several former head coaches and coordinators from other teams.
