Azeez Al-Shaair of the Houston Texans has been suspended for three games without pay due to repeated violations of player safety rules, stemming from a violent hit on Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who suffered a concussion.
NFL vice president Jon Runyan condemned the hit as unacceptable, noting Al-Shaair's history of personal fouls. Houston's general manager, Nick Caserio, criticized the league for inconsistency in disciplinary actions. Al-Shaair is appealing the suspension, which could cost him approximately $265,000.
