The San Francisco 49ers faced a tough defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs, losing 28-18 in their Super Bowl rematch. Compounding their woes, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk suffered a severe knee injury that will sideline him for the remainder of the 2024 season.
Initial tests indicate Aiyuk has torn his ACL and MCL, with potential additional damage. His injury occurred during a second-quarter play, where he was tackled by Chiefs defenders. Despite initially walking off the field, he was later carted to the locker room.
Aiyuk had been a significant contributor to the 49ers this season, with 23 receptions and a standout performance against the Arizona Cardinals. With him out, rookie Ricky Pearsall and veterans Jauan Jennings and Chris Conley are expected to fill the void.
