The Denver Broncos concluded their 2024 season with a disappointing 31–7 loss to the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card round, marking the end of their playoff ambitions. Rookie quarterback Bo Nix has recently disclosed that he dealt with a significant back injury during the latter part of the season. He was listed on the Week 13 injury report due to a transverse process fracture, which involves a break on the side of a vertebra in the spine.
Nix's injury occurred in the Broncos' Week 12 victory against the Las Vegas Raiders. Although he sustained the injury in the first half, a subsequent tackle by Maxx Crosby in the latter half exacerbated the situation. Despite the injury, he performed admirably in that game, completing 70.4% of his passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns.
After receiving treatment, Nix did not miss any games and continued to start against the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football. He reflected on the injury and the week of treatment leading up to the game, emphasizing the importance of playing through pain. Fortunately, the Broncos had a bye week in Week 14, which allowed Nix to recover adequately. He showcased resilience by finishing the regular season strong and participating in the playoff game, illustrating his determination and toughness in his rookie year.
