The NFL has imposed fines on players from the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles following a skirmish during a recent game. Cowboys cornerback Troy Pride was fined $5,198, while wide receiver Jalen Brooks received a $5,083 penalty for unnecessary roughness. Eagles cornerback Sydney Brown faced the highest fine among the trio, totaling $6,981, also for unnecessary roughness. All three players were ejected during the fourth quarter of the Eagles' decisive 41-7 victory.
The incident unfolded during a punt return when Brown and Brooks were engaged along the Cowboys' sideline. After the play concluded, tensions escalated, leading to Pride pushing Brown to the ground. This altercation occurred out of bounds, near the entryway of the visiting team’s tunnel. Following the game, Pride criticized Brown for his actions, asserting that there is 'no room' in the game for such dirty plays.
This incident marked the first ejection of a Cowboys player this season. In addition to the fines for Pride and Brooks, defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa was fined $16,883 for roughing the passer earlier in the game, and offensive linemen Tyler Smith and Terence Steele were each penalized $11,817 for unnecessary roughness. The fines reflect the NFL's ongoing efforts to maintain player safety and discipline on the field.
