The New York Jets have intensified their search for a new head coach, interviewing Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith and Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik on Thursday. This brings the total number of known candidates to twelve, including notable names such as Aaron Glenn, Vance Joseph, Mike Locksley, and former head coach Rex Ryan.
Smith, a former head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, was known as a top candidate in 2021 when the Jets opted for Robert Saleh instead. Since then, Smith has led the Steelers' offense to improvement, particularly under quarterback Russell Wilson. Meanwhile, Slowik, who has guided the Texans' offense featuring star rookie C.J. Stroud, conducted his interview via video as the Texans prepare for their playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
