The Washington Commanders wrapped up the NFL preseason with a victory over the New England Patriots. However, Sam Hartman, sidelined due to a shoulder injury from an earlier game, did not participate.
With his absence in two of the three preseason matches, Hartman's chances of making the team's roster appear slim. Rookie Jayden Daniels has secured the starting quarterback position, while veteran Marcus Mariota takes the backup role.
Hartman will compete with veterans Jeff Driskell and Trace McSorley for a spot on the practice squad, as it is unlikely the Commanders will maintain three active quarterbacks on their roster.
