The Atlanta Falcons have officially parted ways with defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake after just one season. In search of a suitable replacement, they are reportedly looking to interview Lou Anarumo, formerly of the Cincinnati Bengals. Anarumo, 58, was let go following the Bengals' 2024 season, where he served as defensive coordinator for six seasons.
During his tenure, Anarumo's defense faced challenges, especially in the last two years, culminating in the Bengals ranking 31st and 25th in total defense. Despite these struggles, he was instrumental in developing key defensive talents, most notably All-Pro pass rusher Trey Hendrickson. Known for his past experience with the Miami Dolphins, Anarumo's coaching journey includes a notable interim defensive coordinator role in 2015.
