The Atlanta Falcons have signed wide receiver David Sills to a reserve/future contract, continuing their efforts to bolster their roster for the upcoming season. Sills, who was once a highly regarded quarterback recruit for USC at just 13 years old, has transitioned to wide receiver, showcasing impressive stats during his college career at West Virginia. He led the Big 12 in touchdown receptions in consecutive seasons, amassing 18 in 2017 and 15 in 2018. Despite going undrafted in 2019, Sills has made appearances with the New York Giants and the Denver Broncos, totaling 13 receptions and 123 yards in 16 games from 2021 to 2023.
His most recent stint included three games with the Broncos but limited production due to a lack of playing time. The Falcons' interest in Sills reflects their strategy of adding depth to their receiving corps, following the signing of former first-round pick Phillip Dorsett II earlier in January. As the Falcons prepare for the next season, the addition of Sills could provide them with a versatile option on offense, complementing their existing talent.
