Shaq Lawson, a former first-round pick, was released from the Carolina Panthers' practice squad in late October. He played one game for the Panthers this season but did not register any statistics. Lawson, who was drafted 19th overall in 2016, had a solid run with the Buffalo Bills, posting three consecutive seasons with at least four sacks and 12 quarterback hits from 2018 to 2020. Last season, he contributed with 13 combined tackles, including two tackles for loss, seven quarterback hits, and one sack over 16 games. While adding Lawson won't fully address the Falcons' pass-rush struggles, he could provide an additional option for the remainder of the season.
