The New York Jets are in the process of interviewing candidates for their vacant head-coaching position, including former quarterback Josh McCown. As reported by CBS Sports insider Jonathan Jones, the Jets have scheduled interviews with three individuals: Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores, Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, and quarterbacks coach McCown, who played for the Jets from 2017 to 2018.
During his time with the Jets, McCown started 16 games, recording a 5–11 record while throwing for 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Having transitioned to coaching, he recently completed a successful season as the quarterbacks coach for the Carolina Panthers and is now working with the Vikings. McCown's experience coaching Sam Darnold, who had a breakout season in 2023, adds to his credentials as the Jets seek stability under center, especially with Aaron Rodgers' future uncertain.
