During the 1976-77 season, Gary Bromley joined the Calgary Cowboys in the WHA, a team that included former Buffalo and Cincinnati teammates like Butch Deadmarsh, Paul Terbenche, and Chris Evans. The season ended with the Cowboys folding, but Bromley's impressive play caught the attention of the Winnipeg Jets, where he went on to win the Avco Cup before transitioning back to the NHL with the Vancouver Canucks.
