Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin had his three Stanley Cup rings recovered after they went missing during a home invasion. The rings were located in a different area of Malkin's home in Sewickley Heights, following a burglary he reported on January 11. This incident occurred after the Penguins faced a 5-0 defeat to the Ottawa Senators at PPG Paints Arena.
Despite the recovery of Malkin's rings, the investigation remains active. The 38-year-old player is one of several prominent athletes who have recently been targeted in home invasions. In December, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow experienced a similar violation while his team played a game in Dallas.
In addition to Burrow, the homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were also broken into in October. This trend extends into the NBA, with Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis's home being burglarized on November 2, and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mike Conley Jr. having his residence targeted on September 15 while he attended a Minnesota Vikings game.
