The Dallas Cowboys have secured a significant deal with special teams standout KaVontae Turpin, signing him to a three-year contract worth $18 million, making him the highest-paid special teamer in the NFL. This extension comes after ongoing negotiations since the NFL scouting combine, where the Cowboys considered offering him a second-round tender of $5.34 million had a deal not been reached.
Turpin, who joined the Cowboys in 2022 after an MVP season in the USFL, had an impressive season last year, being named a first-team All-Pro and earning his second Pro Bowl selection. He returned both a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns last season, amassing 1,091 total return yards and catching 31 passes for 420 yards and two touchdowns.
