Jack Del Rio has embarked on a new chapter in his coaching career, taking the reins as the head coach of the Paris Musketeers in the European League of Football (ELF). This announcement, made on Friday, marks Del Rio's transition from his long tenure in the NFL to a European football landscape. He expressed enthusiasm for his new role, emphasizing a commitment to teaching and developing the players.
The Musketeers, part of a league that includes teams from various European countries, had a mixed initial season, finishing 6–6, but improved to a strong 10–2 record in their second year, ultimately losing in the playoff semifinals to the Vienna Vikings.
Del Rio, who played as a linebacker for 11 seasons in the NFL, began his coaching career shortly after retirement. He notably served as the head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Oakland Raiders, compiling a coaching record of 93–94. His last role was as the defensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders.
John McKeon, the Musketeers' CEO, welcomed Del Rio, highlighting his dedication and expertise as a significant asset for the team. Del Rio is set to lead his new team in their 2025 season opener against the Rhein Fire on May 17.
