The Miami Dolphins have announced the dismissal of special teams coordinator Danny Crossman and wide receivers coach Wes Welker. This decision comes after a disappointing season for Miami's special teams, which has struggled significantly in recent years and faced numerous penalties in 2024.
Crossman, who has spent 32 years coaching special teams, joined the Dolphins in 2019 after previous roles with the Carolina Panthers, Detroit Lions, and Buffalo Bills. Meanwhile, Welker, a 12-year NFL veteran, was brought on board in 2022 and played a role in helping the Dolphins achieve impressive passing statistics during his initial seasons. However, Miami's passing offense regressed this year, particularly impacting star receiver Tyreek Hill's performance, which prompted head coach Mike McDaniel to make these changes.
