Four former University of Northern Colorado athletes, including Greeley native and former Major League Baseball player and manager Tom Runnells, have been elected to the athletics hall of fame for its 30th anniversary. Runnells played for the Cincinnati Reds and managed the Montreal Expos.
The inductees include Savannah Smith, who broke the Big Sky Conference tournament scoring record with 78 points, and Jordan Davis, the conference's player of the year in 2019. Mariel Gutierrez, a former soccer player, was also honored for her record-breaking achievements.
Former UNC men's basketball coach Tad Boyle and women's basketball coach Jaime White, along with former football player Jed Roberts, were also inducted. The group will be recognized during the home football game at Nottingham Field.
