Michael Badgley has struggled to establish himself as the long-term kicker for the Lions during Dan Campbell’s tenure. After being sidelined for the year, Jake Bates will take over the kicking duties in 2024. While Bates had success with long-range kicks in the UFL, he showed inconsistency during training camp. For him to solidify his role, Bates needs to improve his accuracy on field goals under 50 yards. If he can replicate his prior success, he could become a valuable asset; otherwise, the Lions may be forced to search for another kicker again.
