Despite an impressive season with the Los Angeles Rams, where he converted 93.3% of his field goals in 2022, Gay struggled in Indianapolis, managing only 82.1% accuracy.

His performance declined significantly, particularly on longer attempts, hitting just 33.3% from 50 yards or more. Following a groin injury prior to the 2024 season, his inconsistency became evident. With Gay's departure, Spencer Shrader remains the only kicker on the roster, but the Colts are likely to explore options in the upcoming draft.
