Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been placed on the non-football illness list, sidelining him for the first four games of the season. He has openly discussed his struggles with PTSD, which began following a traumatic incident in 2018 while he was at LSU. After being the Chiefs' first-round draft pick in 2020 and starting running back for his first two seasons, he lost his starting role to Isiah Pacheco in 2022 and has served as a reserve since then. The Chiefs currently have two other running backs on the active roster: veteran Samaje Perine and rookie Carson Steele.
