Washington Commanders guard Sam Cosmi has sustained a torn ACL and will miss the upcoming NFC Championship game, as confirmed by Coach Dan Quinn. Cosmi suffered the injury during the second quarter of Saturday's match against the Detroit Lions after a rough play. Backup Trent Scott took over for him for the remainder of the game.
Cosmi, who was a second-round pick in 2021, had recently signed a lucrative four-year, $74 million extension following his impressive performance in the 2023 season. His recovery timeline remains uncertain, and he could also be sidelined at the beginning of the next season.
With Cosmi out, the Commanders are expected to start Trent Scott in the NFC Championship, where they will aim for a Super Bowl appearance against either the Philadelphia Eagles or the Los Angeles Rams.
